National Day celebrations can be held in a unitary country Minister Susil Premajayanth has pointed out that the country will receive the opportunity of holding National Day celebrations within a unitary country completely liberated from the terrorists. He was addressing a media briefing in Colombo today.. Minister Premajayanth said the Alliance will win with a resounding majority the Central and Wayamba Provincial Councils at the polls. They will win all 40 electorates and move on to the next phase by the 15th of next month. After the capture of the remaining 300 to 320 square kilometres in Mullaitivu, the public will be able to commemorate independence in a unitary country. Minister Gamini Lokuge said despite the views of the leaders, UNP supporters in rural areas have a feeling towards the country. He was positive that they will vote for the beetle leaf symbol to protect the country ignoring what is said by their leadership. JNP President and Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said the LTTE membership does not seem to be bearing the burden of their leader. Similarly the UNP supporters are also not shouldering the political burden of Ranil Wickramasinghe. The burdens created by the foolish visions of M. T. Silva will not be borne by JVP party supporters.

Country celebrates Mullaitivu victory Celebrations have been held countrywide following the victory achieved by the war heroes capturing the Mullaitivu town, the final bastion of the LTTE terrorists.. The people in Kelaniya held their celebrations under the patronage of Minister Mervyn Silva with a motorcade commencing from near the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha. The Minister said the day peace would dawn in the country is not very far. A multi religious Pinkama was held at Pilimatalawe to bless the war heroes. It was organized by the Sastralankara Pirivena. A large gathering including members of the Security Forces participated. Minister Milroy Fernando headed many Pinkamas held at Katukende in Dankotuwa. Donations were handed over to 50 Ranaviru families while a board with visuals of the war heroes entering the Mullaitivu town was unveiled.

Entire nation upbeat about the achievement: Political leaders Political leaders are of the view the entire nation can be upbeat about the capture of the Mullaitivu town, the final bastion of the LTTE terrorists.. Minister Maithripala Sirisena said the victory of the Security Forces of capturing the Mullaitivu town should be celebrated in a dignified manner. He said the nation should salute the Security Forces. He added that the Presidents name would will enter history books over these achievements. Minister Amir Ali said he is grateful to the Security Forces who operated under the concept of the President. The entire country is happy about the Northern polity achieving the freedom enjoyed by the people of the East. Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa observed that the Security Forces had been able to achieve this success faster than expected by the nation. The people were awaiting to witness the national flag hoisted in Mullaitivu town. TULF Leader V. Anandasangaree noted that he is very happy about the capture of Mullaitivu. The people of Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi were under the dictatorship of Prabhakaran for more than 25 years. Their children were forcibly taken. Some parents committed suicide. Today not only the people of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, but the entire nation is celebrating this victory.
