Dr. Lester James Peries created Sinhala Cinema history with this poignant Sri Lankan village story in 1956. 'Rekhava' became a household classic since it was screened in 1956. Sisira Senaratne's classic 'Olu Nelum Neriya Rangala' track featuring Mallika Pilapitiya, Ananda Weerakoon & Somapala Dharmapriya is an unforgettable scene from the movie. I have uploaded this song before but the quality was poor such that I gave a clean bill of health to recapture our memories in a better quality clip. 'Rekhava' remains one of my treasured movies. I still believe that we may not have seen such a great poignant film ingrained in our country addressing family issues in villages despite 50 years since 'Rekhava' was created.
